Position Summary
Metrea’s Platform Development Team is searching for results-oriented Manager Aviation Systems with industry experience in airline operations, or aviation technology environments. Primary responsibilities are focused on “hands on management” working closely with the team members that have responsibility for development/support of system interfaces (APIs), custom development features, and BI dashboards/reports. The position will require a strong technical background and good understanding of business processes, coupled with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel including senior management. This role has enterprise responsibilities for establishing a strong understanding of Metrea’s mission set and providing business partnership with the aviation capability units. This position will report to the Head of Platform Development. Work will primarily be remote, with travel on a required basis.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Participate in project planning activities, especially as it relates to discovery phase for new systems initiatives
- Work closely with project team and end users, to gather information specific to interfaces, conversions, enhancement needs, and BI dashboards/reports needs
- Creation of technical specifications
- Lead cross functional teams in agile development environments from concept through deployment and lifecycle management
- Provide oversight management between our ERP system and aircraft flight operations, logistics, and maintenance systems, along with integrations with third party solutions
- Manage platform architecture, ensuring optimal performance of enterprise aviation systems
- Develop product roadmaps, platform strategies, and long term technical with regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA)
- Collaborate with flight operations, pilots, crews, maintenance & engineering to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure uniformity of design, eliminating all proprietary solutions
- Provide management input overseeing project timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver (SMEs/BPOs)
- Work with Head of Cybersecurity maintain compliance and best practices across the aviation platforms
- Establish KPIs to measure platform performance and optimize system reliability, uptime and user experience
- Mentor and guide team members
Skills and Experience:
- Self-motivated; team oriented; responsible, and reliable
- Positive attitude and proactive style. Must have the ability to work in a structured, yet highly dynamic face paced environment focused on safety, reliability, and innovation
- Expertise in integrations and interface and API development
- Experienced in creating SQL scripts with views and stored procedures
- Expertise in ERP; D365 FO experience would be a plus not a must have
- Experienced in Power BI report development would be a plus not a must have
- Experienced in FL3XX flight operations software would be plus not a must have
- Experienced in AMOS Maintenance and Engineering software would be plus not a must have
- Experienced in architecting enterprise solutions
- Ability to create technical specifications and documentation
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong experience in implementing packaged software
- Experience in supply chain, maintenance, and project accounting systems
- Expertise in MS Office suite
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be organized, focused and able to lead teams to deliver under assertive timelines
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills, with the ability to interact with various levels of personnel, including end users, management, and developers
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Aviation Technology or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in aviation, systems, platform development, enterprise technology management

- Prior experience working with airlines

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
